Historically, the Fed is the first Soviet "Leica" producted in series, and the father of Zenit through it's copy, the Zorki. Between 1934 and 1955, the "Fedka" has undergone minor changes (shape of the release button or of the shutter selector, grid of shutter speeds ...); This one is type-C.

Fed_dessusThis one is the latest development, type" G ", and even the latest version of type G, the serial number has moved from the top to the rear of the body.

Another Fed 1 (type G), provided by Irina (35$), delivered on september 10th, 2009.

Irina let us have it cheap because this camera body was not working. In fact, a spring in the shutter had jumped off. After disassembly, cleaning, lubrication and reassembly, it is perfect, just a few oxidation stains more than the other one.
The shutter curtains have apparent guides(look at the "Anatomy" page of Zenit-S) and I suspect they have been changed, which would also explain that a too much tightened spring has jumped.
