Back Language

Two Fed 2, provided by Irina, delivered July 20th, 2010. Fed 2-b:

Fed 2b
This Fed2 is type b (1956-58) in the classification of JLPrincelle. Compared to a Fed 1, the two windows rangefinder (one for focusing, one for framing) has been replaced by a broad base rangefinder, with one single window for framing and focusing and with dioptric correction lever. On this version "b" the shutter speed dial has been modified, with a center marker allowing the selection even if the shutter is not cocked. A flash sync added, the contact is at the base of the shutter mechanism.

The Industar 26M appeared on this version "b", the first version had a telescopic Industar 10.

Fed 2-d

Fed 2d
This one is type "d" (1958-63). The buttons shape has changed , with a "reminder" for the type of film on the cocking button, the flash sync socket is now on the cover, contact at the top of the shutter mechanism, a timer was added from type "c". And on type "d" the sequence of shutter speeds is standardized. The Industar 26M now has a large focusing ring instead of the button.

I have long wondered why some selftimer levers were mounted "upside down": in fact, it comes from the leather case that covers the left side. With the lever in this position, you can use the selftimer without removing the case!
The two cameras show the two possible kinds of engraving of the front (from type "c").

The two Fed 2The first one came in it's original box, without case, the other in it's leather case.
