It seems that the Soviets, having no macro lens, have created this version of Industar 61 in a "macro like" mount. But this is not a true macro lens, also it doesn't wear this information, unlike the Volna 9 which replaced it.I find the optical quality of this lens great, specially for color saturation.
The optical group is in the bottom of a "funnel", usual look of macro-lenses..
I bought this version to compare the multicoated version with the previous one. Strictly identical results!

The Industar-61 LZ is one of my favorite lenses. Excellent on the center as on the edges from f:4.0. The use of lanthanum glasses allows saturated colors. No problem with backlight, the MC and non-MC versions give exactly the same result.
