This is one of the latest versions of the standard lens of the first Fed. The diaphragm sequence is normalized.
So far, the serial number of lenses was engraved at the base, camera side. Starting from 1955 a new numbering appears, engraved on visible side. This lens has two numbers, the one on body side is not a serial number, it also appears on some oldest lenses, which serial number is on the same side, on the opposite.
This lens was at a very reasonable price, so I took it to set on the second Fed 1.
This is the version fitted to the first models of Fed 2, the infinity lock is different, and the stop position of the focusing button comes in front of the telemeter window. On some points it seems older than the other (serial number on the mount, body side) but the aperture values are "normalized".
If it is the original lens of this camera, it dates from 1938. Mechanically identical to the one on the 1955 Fed 1 but old diaphragm sequence.
The serial number is engraved on the base, camera side.
