Rolleiflex SL35 ME, Planar 1.8/50mm, given by Gilles Collas (september 2018).

Rolleiflex SL35 MEBut what is this tank?
I read somewhere that the boss of Rollei had asked his engineers to take inspiration from Pentax Spotmatic. So we have a Panzer-style Spotmatic that came out approximately while Pentax started the M series.

There were SL35, SL350, SL35M, SL35ME, SL35E. This one is automatic, aperture priority.

The lens mount is a bayonet (QBM), a little smaller than the Pentax one(and more rustic ...). The lens is a Planar, but not signed Zeiss, because manufactured by Rollei (at its factory in Singapore, like this camera body).

In some SLR cameras, to avoid vibrations, the mirror is mounted on a damping device (which I already had to "degum" in a Praktica or Canon A). At Rollei, an engineer remembered having seen that, but not where. And instead of damping the mirror, he delayed the shutter release. So when it seizes, you press the knob, the mirror goes up, and you wait (several seconds!) before the shutter is released! It was the case when this camera arrived, and despite several cleanings (fortunately the mechanism is behind the sole), it still occurs when the camera comes from the cold.
