SONY α7 (A7)

Here is at last the perfect digital camera for a manual lenses collector. Like the Samsung NX, no mirror or pentaprism and direct aiming through the sensor, but this one is a "full frame", that means 24x36! Versions with APS-C sensor already existed at Sony: the NEX; the α7 uses the same lens mount (and the same back focus), it is compatible with the NEX lenses using only an APS-C portion of the sensor.

Very practical. A magnification, programmable on one of the buttons, allows an extremely precise manual focus. You can have a horizon line in the viewfinder. On the other hand the auto white balance is disappointing, in comparison on the Samsung it is impeccable.

A wide range of lens adapters already existed for the NEX and therefore was available for α7 upon its release. Here for M42 with one of my favorite 50mm lenses, the Zenitar 2.0 / 50mm.

And above all, the ability to use short back focus lenses such as the ones for rangefinder cameras, here my Jupiter-12 with the L39 adapter.

The ease of use and image quality ridicule the digital "M" Leicas, for much less!
