Mom had an operation for cataract in her youth. She loved photography, but could not do because it was impossible for her to make the focusing. Then autofocus arrived.I bought for her use this Superzoom 110, which had been well received by critics upon it's release.
Small technical problems: the zoom was poorly protected against breaking when it was stored in its bag, the camera had to go for repair. At the time, 600 Francs for repairing a 2000 Francs camera was still worth it. Later the compact cameras of this kind have become cheaper, and it was better to buy another one than to repair.
Another concern: one day the front of the zoom went off and fell into the grass. Mom found only two pieces of the four ones of the protection flap. I found some time after a wreck in which I could recover the missing pieces!(It is a Superzoom 3000, the American version)
I found this remote among the "unsold" of one of my clients. It has never been used, the batteries are dead.
The zoom shape of the successor of the 110 allows it to better resist to breaking. So I bought it for replacement and kept the 110 for me. And Mom had no trouble with it. You can see that in five years the sale price was nearly halved!
Mom went to digital. Presently she uses a Panasonic Lumix.
