Zenit 212K

Ooh! how ugly it is!
The successor to the Zenit 122 has received a "designed by computer" hull. Not worth accusing the computer, believe my experience, a computer does only what it is asked to do!
New: the shutter has two slow speeds more than usual Zenits: 1/8s and 1/15s. The trade policy being to have a reduced manufacturing cost to sell the cheapest possible, this mechanism will disappear for the 312 (as well as the uncoupled K bayonet).
In early versions, there was a flash socket, at the left front of top cover, as for all bodies from Zenit-S. It was suppressed and replaced by a crimped cover.

Hull identical to the one of 122K, at the level of the shutter-speed selector, the additional mechanism for slow speeds is about 1cm thick, requiring a new shell design, very high. Since 12xp, there were two CdS sensors, on both sides of the viewfinder. There's only one left from the 212, on top middle of the pentaprism.

The mechanism for adjusting the tension of curtains, more practical, appeared on the 122.

Another Zenit 212k, MC Zenitar-K2 2.0/50mm, bought for me by Irina (300+10 UAH) delivered may 18th, 2010.

Zenit 212KWhile she waited for the first 212, bought in Russia, Irina has found this one in Ukraine for a small price, I took it too. Same as first one, just a small scratch on the top cover. Supplied with black bag, instruction booklet, "certificate", in a cardboard box for Zenit 122 - Zenitar M2.
