The "4" came with a prism viewfinder, the "5" with a waist finder. "5" is a little older, the around of the lens is white, black on the "4".

Unlike cameras like Hasselblad, the "central" shutter is not part of the lens, it is behind it in the body. The speed and aperture rings are linked, and the whole is controlled by the lightmeter knob. The oldest shutter must be cocked before you can turn the speed ring without risking damage (which would not be a problem if the Zenit 5 had batteries!) The diaphragm ring is scheduled for maximum aperture of 2.0. The lens mount is taken from Voigtländer Bessamatic.
Since the 5 is motorized, the sole is thicker because it contains the location of 4 batteries (ref. Д-0.25Д) 2.7 cm in diameter and 1cm thick. These batteries have disappeared from long, removed as they could sink. Thank you to the webmaster of the (†)zenitcamera.com forum who gave me the references of these batteries (in Russia, one can find the reference Д-0.26Д, a little smaller, to replace). The battery charger is missing.
Seen from the back. The 5 has no cocking lever, you can help by turning the knob on top.
I could find batteries to test the motor, Varta ref. V350H (NiMh). the result is not very good, because the mechanics is very worn; I succeeded in taking a little video, click here to download it (needs Quicktime(R)).
