Apart from the name "Automat" in not stylized capital letters, EFCO electronics is indicated by a red timer LED , while the one of Russian electronics is yellow (but lits red) (see the picture of Zenit Auto).Note here an AUTOMAT a with a yellow diode, suggesting Soviet electronics.
The user's manual of this model is different from Zenit Auto's; from the outset there is written: "The camera is equipped with electronics manufactured by the French firm EFCO, based on monocrystal microcomputers MC 64NC704P4 from MOTOROLA SEMICONDUCTORS"Other differences relate to the behaviour of the electronics:This model memorizes the exposure (and keeps it in memory until you release the button); It doesn't shoot if the exposure should last more than one second. The behavior of the LED display is more sophisticated:- Bottom LED on : exposure time over 1s, shooting impossible.- Flashing of the bottom LED: exposure between 1s and 1/30s, use a tripod.- Alternative flashing of the two diodes, bottom one shines longer: exposure between 1/30s and 1/125s- Regular alternative flashing of the two diodes: exposure between 1/125s and 1/500s- Alternative flashing of the two diodes, the top one shines longer: exposure between 1/500s and 1/1000s- Top LED on: exposure shorter than 1/1000, shooting impossible.
This body looks "tired" (traces of wear on the baseplate and top cover), the plastic part of the cocking lever is missing; this camera has obviously already been opened (presence of non original 'Scotch' tape).
Electronics presents a small variation (additional card) suggesting a repairing.Works well.
Christophe was very interested by these Automats with French electronics... So he bought one to expose in his home. Poorly packaged, the top and bottom were damaged in the transport (you can't see it on the photo). The body still bears the label of the store that sold it: Studio Pelcerf in Deauville.
This Automat was sold by an Englishman. Great, here is one that has been marketed outside France!Well no, this unit arrived from Mayenne, where it was originally purchased!Like new, with a blue canvas bag.
This one is "Made in Russia" while the others are "Made in USSR"
I repaired the shutter (spring of the second curtain jumped).
