Zenit KM is the last camera created by KMZ which has been marketed. But the autofocus, it included the latest refinements of modernism: plastic hull, motorized, fully electronic, automatic recognition of the film speed by DX coding ...Semi-automatic or aperture-priority automatic.The settings were contained in a non-volatile memory, and KM has gone through several versions of "firmware" before reaching a stable version. The last bodies were called KM Plus to differentiate with former models which operation was problematic.

Up-to-date interior with broad film pressure plate, mechanism for automatic loading of the film, DX code reader and transparent window to display the reference of the film cartridge. Eyepiece protection is made of hard plastic, very difficult to remove to replace by the eyepiece shutter.The shutter is the same Copal EM578MM than the APK, flash sync at 1/125s and 1/2000s max.
The ring around the lens mount is made of plastic, but the bayonet is metallic. Similarly, while the lens barrel is in plastic, the mount is in metal.
