Pentax ES bought on ebay june 6th,2013 for 15$ + 24,15$ sending fees.

Pentax ESThe Pentax ES is the first automatic (aperture priority) reflex camera marketed. Launched in Japan in 1971 under the name Electro-Spotmatic, and globally in 1972 under the name ES.
Designed on the basis of a Spotmatic, the thicker baseplate (4.5 mm) contains the electronic board. The battery compartment (6v PX28 type) and the solenoid of the shutter have taken the place of the selftimer. The light metering, only in automatic mode, is done while depressing the shutter button halfway. In manual mode there are no slow speeds, the automatism uses their dedicated cam.
The ESII succeeded in 1973. The selftimer is back (but not low speeds) and the battery compartment moved to the bottom.
The Spotmatic F was launched in 1973, the lenses designed for the full-aperture light metering, like, for example, the Super-Takumar of my 1972 SPII, were intended for the ES. So I photographed this camera with this Super-Takumar, perfectly compatible, though you can often read that only the SMC-Takumar are.

Camera bought for cheap as out of order (shutter blocked), I could partially repair it: the shutter does not work in automatic mode.

Pentax ES bought on ebay june 14th, 2013 for 14$ + 26,80$ shipping. Delivered July 22nd (from Canada).

Pentax ESHere is a second one, also sold for parts, because it lacked the flash shoe. This time, the shutter operates in automatic and in manual modes. As for the other, I washed the mirror and replaced the damping foam (and replaced a flash shoe!).
