Yashica FX-3

Back Language

Yashica FX-3, Yashica Lens 1.7/50mm, given by Gilles Collas in june 2018.

In fact, Gilles brought me two, but the other was out of order, lightmeter not working and mirror bracket twisted.

Yashica FX-3A lot of plastic in this camera body (front, top cover). Made by Cosina around a mechanical Copal shutter, it is a simple semi-automatic, able to work without battery (except for the meter). The proprietary bayonet (C/Y) is common with Contax bodies made by Yashica, so if you owned one of these Contax, you could use a Yashica as a second camera (or rather as a spare camera?). Since both FX-3s have arrived shutter blocked, I have a slight doubt about the reliability ...

For the 1.7/50 lens, it seems well made. Not tested, but I would be surprised if it was bad.

Vue du bouton au dosAs a way of not doing as everybody, the lightmeter is not switched on by pressing the shutter button halfway, but via this button on the back (I read somewhere that this system had been abandoned on the next cameras).

avec l'ancien revêtementThe covering of Yashica-Contax bodies of that time had a big problem!
I bought another cover by mail, "laser cut", self adhesive, very flexible and thus, not easy to pose. And as I cannot find any pictures of FX-3 with its original coating in good condition, impossible to know if what I found looks like! (but I avoided the red lizard ...).
