May 2010: Start

Back Language

Voir texteThe Start is the first "professional" camera designed by KMZ (the manufacturer of Zenit), marketed between 1958 and 1964.
I received it on May 18, I made a small toilet before storing it in my collection.

On the menu:
Cleaning
Resticking the lining,
Servicing the shutter.

No touch up paint to keep the camera "in its own juice"

First phase: disassembling

Voir texteThe Start has many more small parts than a Zenit. I place them in different glass jars for easy retrieval when reassembling.

Voir texteA few drops of cleaner and lubricant in strategic places, the screw that holds the gear at the bottom left moves: tightening, replacing a missing washer on the lock nut, and readjustment of the stop position of the curtains.

Voir texteCleaning of the upper cover, resticking the leatherette, assembly, testing.
A little polishing of the lens rings

And voila!
